    Note: This course introduces general modeling and analysis tools for wall panels. While references will be made to how these tools apply across different material types, material-specific design considerations for wood, masonry, or concrete walls will not be covered in this session. Future training sessions will address these materials and their associated workflows in detail.
Course overview
This live, instructor-led course is designed to help users efficiently model and analyze wall panels in RISA-3D. Through hands-on guidance and interactive training, participants will uncover foundational concepts and best practices for working with wall panels. The course covers the complete workflow, from initial modeling to interpreting results, with an emphasis on real-world application and efficiency.

  • Modeling and modifying wall panels using the Wall Panel Editor
  • Understanding wall panel analysis and how boundary conditions are applied
  • Applying various load types quickly and accurately
  • Interpreting wall panel results, including load attribution at openings
  • Exploring the interaction between wall panels and other structural members

This course is a hands on, learn by doing training aimed at helping users to understand how to model and analyze walls in RISA-3D.

Course Schedule

Sept 24: Live Session

10:00-11:30AM PT / 1:00-2:30PM ET
Join the instructor for 90 minutes of live examples and interactive training. An explanation of the homework will also be provided to practice what is taught.

Sept 24: Homework Review

1:00-1:30 PM PT / 4:00-4:30PM ET
RISA Experts will be available for a half-hour session aimed at answering questions about the in-class example or provided homework assignment.

Meet the instructor

Tim Barton, PE

Tim graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Utah State University. After graduating, Tim worked as a consulting engineer for 7 years designing heavy industrial steel structures, rooftop facilities for telecom industries, commercial CMU buildings, and timber building retrofits. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Utah.
