Course overview
The RISA-3D Lateral Design Course is a 1.5-hour hands-on training that focuses on the lateral capabilities of RISA-3D. The instructor will discuss the application of lateral load generation, diaphragms, and tools to assist users in modeling lateral systems. The course is aimed at users who are familiar with the RISA-3D interface and are interested in learning more about the specifics of the lateral functions of the program.

The RISA-3D Lateral Design Training is a hands on, learn by doing course aimed at helping users to succeed in modeling lateral loading in RISA-3D.

Do more, faster. 

The combination of in-class examples and a homework model will help users internalize the best practices and tips and tricks shared throughout the training.

Course Schedule

October 14th: Live Session

10AM-11:30AM PT / 1PM-2:30PM ET
Join the instructor for 90 minutes of live examples and interactive training. An explanation of the homework will also be provided to practice what is taught.

October 14th: Homework Review

1:00-1:30 PM PT / 4:00-4:30PM ET
RISA Experts will be available for a half-hour session aimed at answering questions about the in-class example or provided homework assignment.

Meet the instructor

Jon Oberempt, PE

Jon graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, and then worked as a consulting engineer in the Los Angeles area. Prior to joining RISA, Jon specialized in projects including custom residential homes, low-income housing projects, and occasional commercial facilities. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California.
